Job summary
We are looking for a dedicated, organized, and motivated individual to join our friendly Pharmacy Stores team at Watford General Hospital as a Senior Pharmacy Stores Assistant.
The successful candidate will need to meet the required qualifications for this role. Comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided to support your development.
This is a full-time position, working 37.5 hours per week (7.5 hours per day, Monday to Friday).
Main duties of the job
The purpose of this post is to:
Organise the workload of the pharmacy assistants in Pharmacy Stores, in collaboration with the Senior and Chief Pharmacy Technician, Procurement, Stores and Distribution.
Monitor workflow in distribution area, issuing stock medicines and providing a ward top up service to clinical areas.
Ensure that wards, departments, clinics and customers are provided with an efficient supply service for all their pharmaceutical needs.
Update reviewed ward/department stock lists.
Check prepared orders for accuracy before packing and distribution.
Work in the following sections of the pharmacy, to include homecare service, procurement, stores and distribution.
Undertake duties in support of pharmacists.
Undertake related clerical duties.
To train, supervise work of pharmacy stores assistants, trainees.

- NVQ 2 qualification in Pharmacy Services or equivalent.
Desirable
- GCSE's in Maths, English and Science grade C or above (or equivalent qualification).
Knowledge:

- Good stock control practice.
- Safe lifting and handling practices.
- Understanding of the need of confidentiality at all times.
- Accurate at inputting data.
- Knowledge and understanding of hospital pharmacy services.
Desirable
- Knowledge of hospital environment.
- Knowledge of GDP regulations.
- Knowledge of the EMIS pharmacy system.
Experience:

- Experience of working to deadlines.
