Job summary
The Respiratory Department based at Watford General Hospital and the post-holder will be accountable to the relevant Respiratory Consultant on their ward.
Doctors are expected to become competent at organising the day-to-day duties of the clinicalareas.
The post-holder will be expected to work closely with appropriate nursing, professional, technical, and administrative and support staff.
The post-holder will be responsible for ensuring adequate clinical notes are made in accordancewith good medical practice.
The post-holder may, on occasions, be asked to assist in the teaching of medical students.
Main duties of the job
As an ST3 Respiratory Doctor, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day delivery of high-quality respiratory care. You will:
Manage and review inpatients under the care of the respiratory team, including acute admissions and patients with chronic respiratory conditions.
Support the running of outpatient clinics and diagnostics such as pleural procedures, bronchoscopy, and lung function testing. Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, case discussions, and ward rounds.
Contribute to clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and teaching of junior colleagues and students.
Work collaboratively with the wider medical and nursing teams to ensure patient safety, continuity of care, and service efficiency.
