As part of our strategic workforce expansion, we are investing in the growth of our Advanced Practice workforce within the Emergency Department. We are committed to developing an advanced practice model that enhances patient outcomes, supports clinical leadership, and promotes innovative, multidisciplinary care delivery. We are seeking to recruit 3 x Advanced Practitioner (Band 8a) to join the Emergency Medicine Division at Watford General Hospital. This role supports both the nursing and medical teams within the Emergency Department. You will work as part of a dynamic and dedicated team, providing leadership, clinical expertise, advice, and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality care to patients from their first point of contact through to admission or discharge. Applications will also be considered for a Trainee Advanced Practitioner post. Essential requirements for the trainee position: o Registered RGN or other allied health professional o First degree in a health-related discipline (must include a research-focused module) o Registered with the relevant professional body (e.g. NMC, HCPC) o Extensive Experience of working in urgent or emergency care settings
Main duties of the job
This exciting opportunity will include early assessment of patients, access to investigations, consultation, independent prescribing, and liaison with medical, nursing, AHP and support teams. The post-holder will be expected to exercise a high degree of personal professional autonomy and integrity to make critical judgments to satisfy the expectations and demands of the role. As we operate a 7-day service, the postholder will be required to work a variety of shifts covering a 7-day rota across all areas within the Emergency Division
