This is an exciting opportunity to join our growing team of Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACP) in the Children's Emergency Department.

The successful candidate will receive clinical supervision and support from both general paediatric and paediatric emergency medicine consultants, registrars and the ACP team.
Working on an 80:20 rota, you will have dedicated time to work across the four pillars of advanced practice; undertaking procedures such as lumbar punctures, trauma care, and resuscitation of patients, you will enhance and develop your advanced clinical skills; you will also take on leadership responsibilities, providing supervision and educational support to nursing staff, colleagues, and the wider medical teams.
As a department, we take the lead on many research and quality improvement projects, recently winning a Star of Herts award for research excellence; you will be a key team member, working collaboratively with the dedicated, associated teams.
This is a challenging role that requires significant experience, enthusiasm, and a strong commitment to delivering evidence-based, safe, and effective care for our patients.
The successful candidate will manage paediatric patients across the Children's Emergency Department and co-located Paediatric Assessment Unit (PAU). You will be expected to work to across a 07.30-22.30 rota (11.5hr shifts), seven days a week; as the team expands, we will look to include night cover too.
Main duties of the job
The Paediatric Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) in Emergency Medicine plays a key role in providing exceptional care to paediatric patients aged 0-16 years, presenting across all levels of acuity.
You are essential in delivering high-quality, prompt, and efficient care to children with a wide range of conditions and acuities - illness and injury.
Your expertise in autonomously managing patients, along with your collaborative work within the multidisciplinary team (MDT), ensures the smooth functioning of the paediatric emergency department, aids our adherence to government targets and key performance indicators, keeping our patients and their families at the centre of care always.
