Job summary

The Head of Commercial Contract Management will join the Contract Management team and be responsible for providing expert specialist contract management provision and advice in the support of the Procurement function in the development and implementation of the ICS's procurement strategy.

Main purpose of this role is the provision of strategic commercial leadership, influencing and managing, whilst providing support and advice to senior internal stakeholders including the strategic procurement teams.

The role is to optimise the Trusts commercial position and ensure effective management of the contractual and commercial risks we hold. The role will add value by building strong trusted commercial partnerships with suppliers; delivering highly professional contract and commercial management services that facilitates a shared view on the contractual and commercial landscape.

The postholder will be a key member of the Procurement team leading the commercial contract management activity. The postholder will be responsible for the delivery of the overall aims and objectives of the Procurement department by leading on the main contracts within portfolio with an emphasis on integrated working and collaborating closely with divisional and finance leads.

The hours of this post are 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday, with a minimum of 2 days in Welwyn Garden City office (Tuesday & Thursdays).

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the delivery of the overall aims and objectives of the Procurement department and those of the Contract Management Team specifically by undertaking a range of functions, including:

Lead and develop the Commercial Contract Management function with responsibility for providing expert specialist contract management provision and advice.

To lead on and support identified commercial issues / key commodity areas within the commercial contract management remit, providing accurate, timely and up to date advice to the relevant Trust Committee / meeting; particularly where they are business critical for the Trusts in the wider health economy who are the recipients of the service.

Collaborate with divisional senior managers, finance leads and contract managers across the ICS responsible for managing an identified portfolio of contracts.

Support of the Procurement function in the development and implementation of the ICS's procurement strategy.

Direct involvement in identifying contracted and non-contracted spend, supporting the procurement team in developing suitable contracts with key measurables.

  • Leadership/Management qualification or equivalent experience of managing staff and resources.

Desirable

  • MCIPS.
