Job summary
The Deputy Head of Perinatal Governance and Assurance will be working with the Head of Perinatal Governance and Assurance and Head of Midwifery in developing, implementing and monitoring seamless assurance processes that promote multidisciplinary working across the service to ensure compliance with the full complement of regulatory requirements for Perinatal Services.
They will be responsible for assimilating and communicating the requirements of The Ockenden Report, SBLCBv2 and CNST-MIS and any future reports and recommendations, with a focus of targeting areas requiring improvement.
They will have operational oversight of the perinatal governance, education and digital teams and compile regular reports on assurance against regulatory frameworks for both department and Trust Board review.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will have accountability and responsibility for operational delivery of all governance work streams; patient safety, education and the digital programmes to ensure compliance is achieved and maintained.
They will foster a culture of shared learning and ensuring best practise and lessons identified become rapidly assimilated into local training and embedded in practise. They will serve as an advocate of Freedom to Speak Up.
Serve as the subject matter expert relating to quality improvement, assessing and monitoring assurance and ensure the department is routinely monitoring and auditing compliance with the full range of assurance processes.

Work in partnership with a range of clinicians and managers in audit, planning and development of the service to promote patient safety, governance, and risk management.
Embed quality and safety initiatives, across the perinatal service.Support the Trust Corporate lead for CQC Quality and compliance in relation to assurance of National regulatory requirements for perinatal services.
Provide clinical and professional leadership with advice and support in relation to perinatal governance.
Embed SMART actions, monitor and embed into practice and evidence through seamless processes that assurance is provided to the department and divisional leads.
