Job summary

We are looking for a Physiotherapy Assistant in Inpatient Therapy at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, for a fixed term, 12 months.

This role would be suitable for an individual with a particular interest in assisting patients to become as independent as possible.

It includes supporting qualified staff in delivering complex treatments to dependent patients, as well as assisting with the running of the department, including data collection and equipment ordering.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting and rewarding role with many opportunities to expand your communication and people skills whilst working alongside an integrated elderly care therapy team.

You will take part in peer learning sessions and be part of a structured in service training programme for our assistant tier alongside personal development reviews with your supervisor.

Education and qualifications:

Essential

  • Care Certificate or City and Guilds 3 or NVQ 3 or BTEC National Diploma OR equivalent experience.

Desirable

  • Level 2 Functional skills in English and Maths; GCSE A* - C or 4 - 9 or willingness to work towards.
  • 3 A-Levels OR Health and Science T-Level OR equivalent Level 3 qualifications / apprenticeship.

Knowledge:

Essential

  • Understanding of the Physiotherapy role within an acute hospital.
  • Understanding and commitment to a caring approach to patients & relatives.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of local services for onward referral.

Experience:

Essential

  • Healthcare experience.
  • NHS experience.
  • Experience of managing and prioritising own caseload.
  • Team working.

Desirable

  • Relevant experience as a therapy assistant or similar.
  • Experience of working with clients with physical / cognitive impairment/ confusion/dementia.
