Job summary
The Endoscopy units at Watford General Hospital and Hemel Hempstead Hospital carry out a range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures using a wide variety of flexible Endoscopes. The Decontamination units are JAG accredited utilising a pass-through system.
Also responsible for their area of co-ordination in the department, together with ensuring the environment is kept clean, safe and comfortable. Core shifts are Monday-Friday 8.00-16.00 or 10.00-18.00 with some weekend working.

Main duties of the job
To Decontaminate Endoscopes, working to the departmental systems, policies, procedures and guidelines as required.
To assist with the running of the Endoscopy Decontamination Services, and as part of a team to share the responsibility for maintenance and upkeep of all equipment.
Liaise with outside departments to ensure a quality service.
Be proactive in problem solving when equipment fails and be confident and competent when reporting any non-conformance.
Assist with the training and teaching of staff at all levels.
To Manual clean all endoscopes.
Disinfecting endoscopes using auto-disinfectors (in accordance with manufactures, BSG, JAG and GIN guidelines).
To Document all daily maintenance of machines and equipment as required.
To carry out all Endoscope and equipment tracking as required.
Comply with the daily documentation of the decontamination of all equipment.
Decontamination of all instruments and endoscopes as required
Ensure that the right scopes are decontaminated.
Maintenance and upkeep of all endoscopes and all equipment in the Unit as required.
Assist with the organising of general and periodic machine servicing and action accordingly.
