Job summary

There is an exciting opportunity for a Care of Elderly Consultant to join West Hertfordshire NHS trust, a hospital which is currently undergoing redevelopment with the aim of a brand new hospital in the next few years.

The ideal candidate will be a dedicated professional with a specialist interest to join our team of substantive consultants, working core hours from 9 am to 5 pm and 1 week in 3 covering the care of elderly medicine on call (optional past 5pm). This role offers a unique chance to contribute to the enhancement and development of elderly care within a busy but well supported environment.

To enhance our reputation as an Employer of Choice, the Trust has approved the following Recruitment and Retention incentive for each successful candidate.

    • £7,000 golden hello payment for new recruits to be paid in 12 equal instalments
    • £12k recruitment and retention fee year 1, 2 & 3 (paid in equal monthly instalments) (new recruits and existing consultants)
    • Successful candidates will be also eligible for a relocation allowance in excess of £12,000 (if required)

Main duties of the job

The ideal candidate is someone with a passion for care of elderly medicine and service development, working with out community partners to ensure patients in community rehab wards continue to receive excellent clinical care and reduce length of stay, maintaining patient flow and supported discharges into the community.

It is important that the candidate can work within a team to provide holistic care to their patients and support the greater MDT and community teams working with them.
