Job summary
The role of the ED Performance Coordinator is crucial in supporting the smooth operation of the Emergency Department, contributing significantly to its efficiency. In this role, you will play a vital part in managing patient movement and flow within the ED, with a primary focus on maintaining patient safety, improving the performance against the 4-hour target, and enhancing overall patient experience.
Working hours for this position vary to accommodate the demanding nature of the department, including shifts from 07:30 am till 20:00 pm, 10:00 am till 22:30 pm, night duty from 19:15 pm till 07:45 am, and weekend shifts.
Main duties of the job
- Offer professional, friendly, and efficient operational and administrative support to the ED Department, ensuring a seamless workflow.
- Collaborate with the Nurse in charge and the Consultant to establish and implement patient plans, aiming to meet the 4-hour wait target whenever clinically feasible.
- Provide valuable assistance in validating 4-hour breaches using various IT platforms, ensuring accurate external reporting.
- Possess essential IT skills, with a preference for experience using Cerner, including proficiency in FirstNet, Power Chart, and Capacity Management.
- Demonstrate exceptional communication skills, as the role involves working closely with the ED Consultant and Nurse in Charge to oversee the Emergency Department. Additionally, the post holder is responsible for escalating issues to specialty teams and assessment units.
- Showcase strong multitasking abilities and prioritise work effectively to handle the dynamic demands of the role.
