Job summary

Applicants are invited to join our dynamic Cardiology team and apply for the post of Consultant Cardiologist at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (WHTHT).

The successful candidate will have a specialist interest in heart failure with room for additional interest in additional subspeciality eg complex imaging or cardiovascular disease prevention.

The successful candidate will work in partnership with our expanding Heart Failure team of specialist nurses and consultants as well as supporting our subspecialty departments.

  • Successful candidates will be also eligible for a relocation allowance of up to £12,000 (if required)

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will work with the Cardiology consultant body to provide a highly effective Cardiology service for patients, stakeholders and colleagues.To support the increasing workload in Cardiology with emphasis on Heart Failure and work closely with specialist nurses and other consultants to develop the service.The candidate would be expected to support the heart failure service and further develop the Virtual Heart Failure (VHF) Hospital, one of WHTHT's new innovations to enable early discharge and community support.The candidate will contribute to the Cardiology Consultant of the Week rota supporting inpatient management and admissions.There are regular Cardiology departmental and clinical governance meetings that the candidate would be expected to attend along with VHF MDT.

The post holder would be expected to teach, support and train junior medical and non-medical staff in the Cardiology department and contribute to post graduate and undergraduate activities in the trust.
