Ward 22 is a 32 bedded Acute Geriatric/General Medicine situated at Tunbridge Wells Hospital.
We work collaboratively with a range of specialties to facilitate clinical excellence and holistic care delivery with a multi-disciplinary approach.
Ward 22 has excellent medical cover, a designated Geriatric Consultant, a dedicated therapy team and a Discharge Co-coordinator. All members of the team work together to ensure that top quality medical care is delivered and to facilitate effective discharge planning now we have recruited a dementia key worker for the ward.
Main duties of the job
This post requires a motivational and enthusiastic individual who is passionate about Elderly care. This post also requires an individual who is able to manage patient flow effectively on the busy ward. You must be flexible, approachable, motivated, and hardworking and be able to use your own initiative, whilst also having the ability to work under pressure
You will have the opportunity to develop management skills in this role, as you support junior nursing staff, while working alongside the Ward Manager to help develop the Team.
You will receive a comprehensive preceptorship program and will be encouraged in further development. We offer a supportive, exciting and challenging work environment and we are committed to the training and development of our staff.
On Ward 22 you will encounter patients that are frail, and will gain an understanding of how to assess and support elderly patients that are affected by confusion, delirium and even different stages of dementia, amongst other issues. The ideal candidate willbe expected to deliver the highest standards of care to patients and demonstrate an interest in falls prevention, dementia care, nutrition and hydration and tissue viability.
