Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead the reporting radiographers within the radiology team. The post holder will lead a team of reporting radiographers who report MSK / chest plain film reporting.
They will:
- Provide clinical leadership and management for the reporting radiographers
- Ensure the day-to-day delivery of a high-quality and safe reporting service
- Undertake a review of demand and capacity for reporting and regularly review reporting radiographers' job plans to meet the demands of the service.
- Work closely with the Directorate Triumvirate and Site leads to ensure the reporting radiographer service is responsive to the changing needs of radiology.
- Manage the reporting backlog for Reporting Radiographers
- Be responsible for the supervision, support, training, and appraisal of Reporting Radiographers and Trainee Reporting Radiographers
- Lead on recruitment and selection of reporting radiographers and trainee reporting radiographers.
- Be responsible for managing the reporting radiographers, reporting worklists, escalating and prioritising according to clinical need.
- Establish effective staff communication both within the Imaging Department and the wider Trust.
- Lead on service improvement initiatives relating to plain film.
Main duties of the job
- Lead and manage the reporting radiographer team to provide a high quality reporting service ensuring that Standard Operating Procedures are followed and initiating prompt corrective action where required.
- Undertake regular review of the service to ensure reporting radiographers are able to meet the demand for reporting including undertaking annual job plan reviews.
- Ensure reporting radiographers are meeting turn around and reporting volume targets and address any underperformance promptly
- Manage any reporting backlog for Reporting Radiographers and and where necessary manage the requirement via suitable mitigation
- Play an active role in the development of the service
