An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Ultrasound Department within Radiology.
This rotational post serves Maidstone and The Tunbridge Wells at Pembury Hospitals and also the new Community Diagnostic Centre at Hermitage Court.
You will be joining a well-established, forward-going team of Sonographers and Radiologists providing a wide range of high-quality ultrasound examinations and independent reports. We have 13 Ultrasound rooms across the three sites and provide a wide range of examinations from Obstetrics, General Abdominal, Gynaecological, Head and Neck, MSK, baby hips and much more. We are keen to develop our team and support sonographers on a wide range of courses such as completing their Masters. Our department also provides a sonographer led interventional list and provides the opportunity for sonographers to become advanced clinical practitioners.
We have recently gained the BMUS Certificate of Preceptorship Endorsement meaning we are recognised as a department that offers a supportive environment for ultrasound practitioners of all grades and experience.

Main duties of the job
We provide obstetric services for 12 week Nuchal Assessment, Anomaly and Growth scans as well as General Abdominal, Small Parts and Gynae examinations. A 'One Stop Stroke Service' is in operation along with direct GP access for suspected DVT. We offer sonographer-led musculoskeletal ultrasound and there is a lead sonographer for head & neck work. We also have a rolling sonographer training program.The service operates extended days (8am to 8pm) Monday to Sunday.Continued Professional Development is well supported, both in-house and with access to outside courses and we have a well-established in-house training programs.
Once competencies have been assessed and demonstrated extended practice as outlined in the job description the sonographer will progress to a Band 8a.
