Job summary

We're excited to offer a fantastic opportunity to join our compassionate team on the Acute Medical Unit at both Maidstone Hospital and Tunbridge Wells Hospital as a Band 5 Staff Nurse on a permanent contract. We're looking for motivated and dedicated individuals who are passionate about providing high-quality patient care and making a difference in the lives of those we care for.

The Acute Medical Unit is a 28-bedded unit that admits patients referred by their GPs and the Emergency Department. Here, patients benefit from rapid access to diagnostic services, with care plans quickly developed. Patients stay for up to 48 hours before being transferred to a specialty ward or discharged home. The Same Day Emergency Care Service also operates within AMU, ensuring comprehensive care for our patients.

Main duties of the job

  • Continue to uphold and enhance high standards of nursing care, reflecting the core values of nursing practice outlined in the ward philosophy

  • Take responsibility for assessing care needs and developing, implementing, and evaluating individual care plans

  • Foster a supportive and innovative learning environment for both untrained and qualified staff, contributing to the ongoing development of the ward

  • Act as a clinical and professional team leader, guiding and supporting your colleagues within the ward area

Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is a large acute hospital Trust in the county of Kent.

The Trust provides a full range of general hospital services and some areas of specialist complex care to around 760,000 people living in the south part of West Kent and the north part of East Sussex.

The Trust's core catchment areas are Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells and their surrounding boroughs. We work from two main clinical sites: Maidstone Hospital and Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury. Tunbridge Wells Hospital opened in 2011 and provides single rooms with en-suites for all in-patients - the first of its kind in the country.

Following your Corporate Induction you will be expected to attend the Trusts 2-week Induction Programme for RNs, NAs, RMs, ODPs and Paramedics. The programme is full-time (please emailmtw-tr.professionalstandards@nhs.netif this is problematic)and will involve travel to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area, classroom-based sessions and e-learning.
