Job summary

We are a 14 bedded unit caring for both intensive care and high dependency patients based just outside Maidstone, the MTW NHS Trust has 2 sites, we are looking to recruit on the Maidstone site.

We have 2 separate sites but we run as one unit. We have an exciting opportunity for experienced critical care nurses, with a post basic qualification in Intensive Care and proven teaching skills. This is a dynamic, friendly, supportive unit and we are looking for proactive, progressive thinking nurses.

Main duties of the job

You should have good communication and interpersonal skills along with an ability to work as part of a team and to use initiative. This is the ideal opportunity to consolidate both your clinical and managerial skills.

Support of the clinical education team and a competency based induction program are available.

Internal rotation to night duty and a mixture of long days and short shifts are worked.

Following your Corporate Induction you will be expected to attend the Trusts 2-week Induction Programme for RNs, NAs, RMs, ODPs and Paramedics. The programme is full-time (please email mtw-tr.professionalstandards@nhs.net if this is problematic)and will involve travel to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area, classroom-based sessions and e-learning.

  • Accredited Intensive Care Course
  • ILS
  • Epidural study day
  • IV drugs

  • Has a Mentor qualification in line with current NMC guidelines.

  • Recent proven experience at a similar level within ICU or relevant experience
  • Relevant management skills
  • Evidence of insight/ understanding of current issues in nursing in the NHS
  • Computer/ IT skills
  • CVVH & Cardiac output monitoring skills.
  • Evidence of involvement in service development
