Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic registered chemotherapy nurse, or experienced band 5 staff nurse wishing to become chemo competent by undertaking SACT training, to join our Cancer Nursing Team at our sister unit at Pembury Hospital. You will work within the team to provide outstanding clinical support and care for patients under the care of the Oncology/Haematology Department. Patients are offered expert clinical care which is compassionate and individualisedYou should possess excellent clinical, communication and organisational skills and be prepared to professionally develop to meet the needs of the service. You should be visible and accessible with quality and standards as your priority. You will need to be flexible and resilient in order to cope with the demands of the role.

Main duties of the job

You should be able to combine autonomy with team working sensitivity and professionalism.

You will be expected to adopt a holistic, pro-active and dynamic approach, being responsible for the delivery of a high standard of care and service to the patients. You will in association with your colleagues be required to support patients and their carers on all aspects of their care, be they newly diagnosed, or being treated with palliative intent.

SACT (chemotherapy) trained nurses are offered a band 6 post.

  • Suitable applicants may in time be offered the SACT course when applicable. All trained SACT nurses are remunerated as a band 6

Following your Corporate Induction you will be expected to attend the Trusts 2-week Induction Programme for RNs, NAs, RMs, ODPs and Paramedics. The programme is full-time (please email mtw-tr.professionalstandards@nhs.net if this is problematic)and will involve travel to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area, classroom-based sessions and e-learning.

  • First level registered nurse registered with Nursing and Midwifery Council

Desirable

  • Evidence of further education since qualification e.g. diploma/degree
