Job summary

Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is looking for an experienced, dynamic CCAB/CIMA qualified Accountant to take on a Finance Manager role supporting the Women's, Children's and Sexual Health Division as well as the Medical Director Division.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and forward thinking accountant to join the Finance team reporting to the Head of Financial Management. This is a varied and challenging role in a complex and dynamic environment but you will have a real opportunity to make a difference to the Trust in securing the financial sustainability of the Trust. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivery as an inspiring and empowering manager.

The Finance Manager role is the first point of contact for a group of directorates, delivering month end reporting, business planning, Cost Improvement Plan analysis and costing, and supporting the development of business cases and options appraisals. In order to support partnership working, the successful candidate will build and develop key relationships with finance and non-finance colleagues within the Clinical and Non Clinical Divisions

Main duties of the job

You will be a self-motivated, pro-active individual with strong time management and organisational skills. You will have excellent communication, influencing and analysis skills. Advanced Excel skills and experience managing large and varied datasets are also requirements of this role.

You should have experience in financial management and excellent technical and communication skills. You will be responsible for the line management of a Band 6 management accountant, and should have experience of managing and developing staff.

This is a challenging role but offers the right candidate the opportunity to thrive and develop within a supportive finance team, as well as contribute to the improving the efficiency and offering of the finance function to the organisation.

Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is a large acute hospital Trust in the county of Kent.

The Trust provides a full range of general hospital services and some areas of specialist complex care to around 760,000 people living in the south part of West Kent and the north part of East Sussex.

The Trust's core catchment areas are Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells and their surrounding boroughs. We work from two main clinical sites: Maidstone Hospital and Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury. Tunbridge Wells Hospital opened in 2011 and provides single rooms with en-suites for all in-patients - the first of its kind in the country.

We employ more than 7,000 full and part-time staff in a huge range of clinical and non-clinical roles across both of our hospital sites.

  • A professionally qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, ACA) with a minimum of 5 years' experience in a complex financial environment of which at least 2 years is post qualification in a Financial Management role.

Experience/Knowledge

  • Expert knowledge of financial systems.
  • Expert knowledge of budgeting, forecasting and costing methodologies.
  • Expert Knowledge of developing and reporting CIP.
