We are seeking to appoint a dynamic individual within the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Maidstone & Tunbridge well Hospitals.
This is a locum consultant post in response to expansion of maternity services and recovery of gynaecology services
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will join a cohesive team of 17 consultants with on call and emergency commitments at the Tunbridge Wells hospital site.
About us
The Trust consists of the Tunbridge Wells Hospital and Maidstone Hospital and serves a population of approximately 500,000 people, living in the West Kent and East Sussex areas. The Trust also manages the Kent Cancer Centre at Maidstone and Canterbury.
Service provision for Obstetrics is based at the Tunbridge Wells hospital with Birth Centres adjacent to Maidstone Hospital and in Crowborough. We deliver approximately 5800 babies per annum across the three units. Gynaecology inpatients and most emergencies are treated at Tunbridge Wells Hospital. Ambulatory Gynaecology and Outpatient services are at both hospitals.
All applicants should be fully registered with the General Medical Council, hold a Licence to Practice and be on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT on the date of interview.

Job responsibilities
Conducting high-risk obstetrics clinics at both sites, focusing on multiple pregnancies at MH and perinatal mental health at both locations.
Managing weekly LSCS (Lower Segment Caesarean Section) lists from 0800 to 1300 hrs., typically involving LSCS procedures each session.
Providing one post-natal debriefing session per month
Supporting the existing office gynaecology service by performing either a hyst/minor procedure or myosure clinic
Maintaining gynaecology competencies through participation in one operating list per week.
General Gynae clinics and USG (Ultrasonography) sessions on maternity day units, provided the post holder possesses the necessary competencies. Alternatively, offering senior support on maternity triage or day unit instead of the USG sessions
