Job summary
We are looking to recruit a Consultant otolaryngologist with specialist interest in Head and Neck surgery to join the team of Consultants at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. This is 9 months fixed term position, full time (10 Pas per week) with an on-call commitment.
We are a busy department with outpatient clinics and Theatre lists covering most sub-specialties of ENT except skull base work. This postoffers an opportunity for thesuccessful candidate to develop their knowledge & skills in a well-respected unit.
The Department ispart of the Kent Oncology centre, providingexcellent exposure to all aspects of Otolaryngology
The successful candidate will join the ENT Department and provide support to the existing team of 5 ENT Consultants, 5 Trust Doctors and 2 SPRs.
Main duties of the job
They will be expected to contribute to the department, be involved with inpatient and outpatient care, join in the non-resident on call rota, as well as contribute to the teaching and supervision of junior trainees.
Duties would also include clinical sessions at Tunbridge wells Hospital - Pembury, Maidstone Hospital and possibly outreach sites.
About us
The Trust was formed in April 2000 by the merger of the Mid Kent Healthcare Trust and the Kent & Sussex Weald NHS Trust. Its major hospitals are the Tunbridge Wells Hospital and the Maidstone Hospital.
The new Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury has replaced the existing Pembury and Kent & Sussex Hospitals. This hospital opened September 2011. The Trust's Headquarters are at Maidstone Hospital.
The Trust's Chairman is Mr David Highton, the Chief Executive is Mr Miles Scott and the Medical Director is Dr Peter Maskell. Clinical services are organised into four divisions, each made up of a number of clinical directorates. The Clinical Director for the Head and Neck Directorate is Mr Luke Membrey, Consultant Ophthalmologist and the Lead Clinician for ENT is Mr Julian Hamann.
