Job summary
Each Cancer tumour site has a team of specialists, which forms the MDT (Multi-Disciplinary Team). Each MDT Support Coordinator will work with the Patient pathway navigator / MDT Co-coordinators to ensure that all patients suspected of having cancer are proactively tracked through the appropriate patient pathway from point of entry to the Trust.
The position of MDT Support Coordinator will be to provide assistance and support to the Navigators / MDT Coordinators to enable the tracking of patients' cancer pathways to ensure Cancer Waiting Standards are met.
The MDT Support Coordinator will facilitate the preparation of the MDT meetings, attend and record the MDM discussion and facilitate the appropriate distribution of the MDM outcomes within the required time-frame
Accurate and concise records of all MDT meetings must be maintained by the MDT Support Coordinator and should be available when required.
Main duties of the job
Some MDT meetings are video-conferenced and the MDT Support Coordinator will need to familiarize themselves with the use of this equipment and take responsibility for ensuring that this equipment is available and functional.
The MDT Support Coordinator will assist in collecting Cancer Waiting Time Data, using the tracking and electronic recording systems currently in use by the Trust, to ensure that patients do not breach any targets set currently or in the future.
The MDT Support Coordinator will work as part of the Cancer Services Team to ensure cross cover, cover for periods of annual and sickness leave and continuity of service across the entire site-specific tumour MDTs as directed by the Assistant General Manager.
