Job summary

An exciting opportunity has become available for a nurse with research experience to work within the oncology research department, based at the Kent Oncology Centre, Maidstone hospital. The post sits within the lung oncology specialism and will support the delivery of a growing lung research portfolio. The Senior Oncology Research Nurse for Lung will work as part of a dynamic, supportive and growing oncology research team to deliver lung clinical trials and new healthcare innovations. Working closely with Kent Oncology Centre staff, you will utilise your clinical skills by caring for your own trial patients, help to deliver new innovations and support the development of a dynamic lung research team. You will supported by a dedicated Clinical Trial Co-ordinator.

About you.

You will be chemotherapy-trained nurse with an understanding of the lung pathway. You will have experience of supporting senior nurse colleagues in a ward setting and be looking to move into a new leadership role. Whilst this is a permanent role, we are open to applications preferring a secondment. Ideally the post holder will be full time, however, flexible working will be considered.

Main duties of the job

The Senior Research Nurse will work as an experienced research practitioner within the Research and Innovation Team, to support delivery of a wide portfolio of research studies across the Trust. The Senior Research Nurse will have oversight of a number of portfolios within the oncology department.

They will manage the research delivery team empowering them to provide the necessary support so that studies can be conducted safely, efficiently and to research regulatory standards and targets. They will also be responsible for their own case load of research studies which they will consent and recruit patients to. The post will also involve promoting and embedding research within the Trust, acting as a resource to patients and multi-professional colleagues and building effective working relationships with other, departments and organisations. The post holder will be required to work closely with the Trust Lead Research Nurse, and other senior members of the research and innovation team, in driving forward the Trust research strategy.
