We are searching for an exceptional candidate to join the Surgical Therapy team at the Leicester Royal Infirmary in a new Band 6 Occupational Therapy post. You will provide inpatient rehabilitation, reconditioning and discharge planning for both surgical and medical patients with a wide variety of needs. This post comes with great opportunities around service development and MDT working to aid high quality patient care.

Main duties of the job

You will be completing timely assessments utilising core OT functional interventions when necessary to address physical and cognitive needs of patients referred to the service, to aid development of individualised treatment plans . You will gain a high level of knowledge around community services with the aim to facilitate discharge from the acute setting as efficiently and effectively as possible.

As well as your direct clinical role you will get opportunities to deliver training and education to the therapy team and the wider multidisciplinary team. There will be opportunities to supervise staff as well as provide practice placements for Occupational Therapy students. There is also a structured in-service training in place within the team which you will be actively encouraged to be involved in. Service improvement, audits and research is encouraged and you will have the opportunity to be part of the established Therapy Research, Audit and Service Evaluation group (TRASE).
