Job summary
This is an exciting new post to provide expert dietetic care and advice to adult patients with complex medical needs or those who are discharged from Critical Care after a long stay, within the UHL Trust. As a new post this is a great opportunity, allowing you to develop the role and improve patient outcomes.
You will be responsible for the provision of a specialist, high quality, effective nutrition and dietetic service for adult patients with complex medical needs and critical care step down. You will work as a core member of adult ward MDTs across UHL to provide holistic nutritional care whilst also exercising a large degree of autonomy.
Main duties of the job
You will work closely with a full time Senior Specialist Dietitian to provide expert nutritional care to critical care step down patients. This is one of the few posts in the UK to be funded specifically to provide ongoing nutritional care in the recovery of the deconditioned patient- a hot topic across national nutrition platforms and BAPEN 2023.
We are looking for a motivated, active team player, with excellent communication and audit skills . You will have the opportunity to develop clinical leadership skills and gain further experience in complex medicine and critical dietetic care nutritional support, anthropometry and service evaluation.
The Nutrition and Dietetic Service in UHL NHS Trust has a team of over 65 staff including Dietitians, Nutrition Nurses, Dietetic Assistant Practitioners, Dietetic Assistants, and support team staff providing local, specialist and tertiary services.
We are a progressive Service which actively contributes to the Trusts Quality & Safety agenda and has an established service development and quality improvement programme which you will be encouraged to contribute to.
About us
Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).
We have four primary goals:
- high-quality care for all,
- being a great place to work,
- partnerships for impact, and
- research and education excellence
And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.
Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:
- we are compassionate,
- we are proud,
- we are inclusive, and
- we are one team
This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
