Serving the population of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, Leicester Childrens Hospital is one of the busiest acute and general paediatric centres in the United Kingdom.
Main duties of the job
You will be a dedicated, compassionate, skilled and motivated clinician. They will have excellent communication skills, with empathy and compassion at the heart of the care they provide.
You will work alongside the established paediatric physiotherapy team, including Clinical Specialists working within: Long Term Ventilation, Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia, East Midlands Congenital Heart Centre, Difficult Asthma and Outpatients. You will also work alongside our multidisciplinary teams and colleagues within the Community Paediatric Service.
You will be the lead physiotherapist responsible for delivering and developing the Cystic Fibrosis and non-CF Bronchiectasis Paediatric Physiotherapy service. This includes shared care of our patients at Kettering General Hospital. The post holder will provide highly specialist assessment and intervention for a complex caseload. You should be a highly motivated and innovative physiotherapist who is keen to improve the lives of children living with Cystic Fibrosis. As a paediatric Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist in CF you will work closely with the CF Multidisciplinary team to deliver physiotherapy support to children and their families across the acute and community setting. We have a strong involvement in research and the development of treatments particularly in the era of modulator treatments. A car driver is essential for this post.
About us
The Paediatric Team provide a service to the Children's and Womens Services and the successful applicant will also provide care within the following areas: paediatric intensive care, high dependency unit, neo-natal unit, surgical and medical wards, orthopaedics, oncology, neurology, respiratory clinics and the maternity wards to provide optimum patient care and the effective, efficient working of the paediatric team ensuring on going service development.
As a large, acute NHS Trust with established links to the University of Leicester and De Montfort University there is a strong focus on teaching and development of our staff, including qualified, non-qualified and multi-disciplinary staff and the successful applicant will provide teaching and supervision for physiotherapists, physiotherapy students and members of the Multidisciplinary Team working within the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. The successful applicant would be supported to develop within their role to complete the consultation skills course and non-medial prescribing course.
The Physiotherapy Department provides a seven day rostered service and the successful candidate will work on the weekend, bank holiday and the emergency on-call respiratory service rosters.

- Provide clinical and professional leadership to physiotherapy colleagues in the speciality area
- Lead, evaluate and develop clinical practice within their speciality, ensuring compliance with national and local guidelines and frameworks
- Be responsible for the clinical standards, evidence based practise and quality metrics within the speciality
- Work as an autonomous practitioner to provide specialist therapy assessments, diagnose and develop individualised treatment programmes based on the childs needs, using advanced clinical reasoning skills
