The role involves working within our pathology stores teams helping to pack consumable orders for delivery to healthcare sites across Leicestershire, receipting deliveries, handling post and internal enquiries. Also helping to maintain a daily van route in times of sickness and annual leave, keeping to strict deadlines, collecting samples and delivering reports, around Leicestershire to GP practices and Health Service premises, delivery of stock requirements, moving of heavy goods and daily vehicle inspections.

Good communication skills are essential alongside using your initiative, with experience of working as an individual and also within a team.

A good deal of manual handling will be required when working in stores, with lifting and carrying. Also trained to decant nitrogen.

Full training will be given and a clean driving license preferred but not essential.

Main duties of the job

We are currently recruiting for one full time experienced driver and stores person to join our pool of Pathology Drivers based at the Leicester Royal Infirmary.

The successful candidate will be based in our stores department helping to pick and pack electronically requested consumable requests. Receipting and delivering items received from local couriers for various services within the Pathology building and Leicester Royal Infirmary hospital. On top of these duties the candidate will cover for drivers within our transport team during times of annual leave, absence and appraisals. The candidate would visit GP practices and Health Service premises throughout Leicestershire collecting patient samples and delivering reports. Good communication skills are essential with previous experience of working alone, being able to use your own initiative and work as part of a team

The post holders will need to keep to strict deadlines and maintain patient confidentiality at all times. Lifting and handling of laboratory materials is essential to this role. Full training will be provided.

A clean driving license is preferred but not essential
