An exciting opportunity to become part of the management team in Ophthalmology theatre LRI is available. We are looking for experienced Operating Department Practitioners / Theatre nurses who are ready to take the next step in their continuing professional development.

Can you demonstrate organisational skills such as theatre time management, task prioritisation and development of others through effective clinical managerial and leadership skills? Then this post is for you!

We are a team encouraging multi skilled professionals within our specialty. We are giving training in both anaesthetic and surgical side. Our theatre teams work passionately from Monday- Friday and do on calls for any potential emergencies both weekdays and weekends.

Main duties of the job

  • You will be responsible for setting the standards and supporting your team to deliver these, sharing the Trust's values and ambitions, with the patient's safety and experience at the forefront of what you do.

  • You will also undertake the role of floor control, coordinating theatre activity to cover 24/7 service delivery and providing a direct line of contact for wider site and Trust wide actions

  • Provide direction, effective and inspirational leadership to all members of the multi disciplinary team within the area for which they are accountable.

  • Act as an expert clinical practitioner providing through themselves and their theatre team, an excellent quality of care to patients and service users.

  • Act as a clinical and managerial role model within the theatre team, CMG and across the wider organisation/Division.

  • Take responsibility for the provision of a supportive learning environment for all students on placement and newly appointed staff within the theatre for which they are responsible.

  • Practice clinically in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for a defined caseload. This will determine that the Team Leader is theatre based and practices clinically at least 80% of their working time or as negotiated with the Divisional head of Nursing/Lead Nurse and Matron
