An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Neonatal Nursery Nurse to work within the Neonatal Home care Service, hosted by Leicester hospitals.
This model of Neonatal Community Care is provided across Leicestershire and Rutland and the Northamptonshire region, including University Hospitals of Leicester, Kettering General and Northampton General Hospitals . This position will be predominately based within Northamptonshire .
The post holder will be an excellent team worker and will be a key member of the team to provide the highest standard of clinical care and evidence based practice for infants within the scope of neonatal outreach, providing specialist on-going care for the neonate and advice, support and education to the family in the home environment.
This service provides continuing community care for babies and their families in the home setting. Home naso gastric tube feeding and the Home oxygen service is currently well imbedded , and more recently we have expanded services further to include care of babies at home on phototherapy for the treatment of jaundice.
We are seeking a highly motivated Neonatal Nursery Nurse to join our forward thinking family focused neonatal team. The successful candidate will demonstrate the drive and motivation to support the implementation of such an exciting service . To be successful in this role you will need to already have experience within the field of Maternity, neonatal care or community paediatrics.
Main duties of the job
- Deliver care of the neonate tailored to the requirements of the individual baby, which reflects the health status of the infant and their family's wishes within the community setting
- Understand and use documentation to communicate relevant information and/or progress, being aware of the need for confidentiality both with the written and spoken word, using interpretation services to support the needs of each family to communicate effectively with families
- Be responsible for ensuring that parents are involved in and have the knowledge and skills to carry out care for their infant, to a level appropriate to their understanding
- Be aware of the holistic needs of the family to enable optimum support in the community
- Demonstrates an understanding of the importance and relevance of good team working.
- Able to work as an effective team member, contributing to objectives of the multidisciplinary team.
- Act as a facilitator of learning for students and new staff.
- Demonstrate flexibility when required to undertake specified indirect care duties and work in other areas.
- Ability to work across site and travel within the community setting. Car owner essential with valid driving license.
