Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the pharmacy team, if you are interested we would love to hear from you.

Base: You may be required to work in other designated locations of theTrust as well as your primary base. In particular, flexibility isrequired across the three main hospital sites (Leicester RoyalInfirmary, Leicester General Hospital and Glenfield Hospital).

Reports to: Lead Pharmacy Technician

Main duties of the job

To work as part of the Pharmacy Team in providing an efficient, effective, and safe pharmaceutical service to patients and customers.

To receive all orders for pharmaceutical products, to maintain effective stock control, storage, rotation and supply of pharmaceuticals to all units served by the relevant Pharmacy department.

To work as part of a team providing a high quality collection and delivery service covering a large site to collect and deliver medicines and medicine requests, and other items as required.

Working flexibly across the pharmacy department in core areas to support goods receipt, medicine distribution and customer service.

Job description

Job responsibilities

All deliveries are processed and put away on the day received.

All discrepancies and returns are reported and processed to the purchasing office on the day received.

To accurately check deliveries against orders, and input the information onto the computer, then file the paperwork accordingly.

All excess stock is rotated into its correct location on a daily basis.

Courtesy and helpfulness are maintained at all times.

To keep the stores area and yard clean and tidy at all times, including disposing of pallets, cardboard and delivery boxes, whilst maintaining health and safety regulations.

Collect and deliver medicines including chemotherapy, IV fluids, TPN and various other pharmaceutical preparations, for use in wards and departments, including waste, as required, within collection and delivery schedules or as otherwise required.

Take responsibility for security of all items in transit at all times and ensure hand-over to clinic/ward staff, maintaining a written audit trail of deliveries and collections.

Work in accordance with the relevant legal requirement on safe handling of medicines including the delivery of controlled drugs.

Ensure the safe functioning of all equipment and report any problems as required.

Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the collection trolleys and containers and distribution area, according to Trust and local health and safety procedures and Infection prevention policy.

To maintain standards of safety, tidiness and cleanliness within the department in accordance with COSHH and Health and Safety regulations. To ensure all working practices and Standard Operating Procedures are followed.

Prioritise work and contribute to improvements and problems solving within the scope of the role.

To provide an effective, efficient and timely medicine delivery service, ensuring professional communication with pharmacy and ward staff at all times
