University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust

Clinical Fellow Core Level

The closing date is 20 February 2026

Job summary

This is a Trust Grade doctor at core level post to work alongside our existing Specialist Trainees in Oncology. The successful candidate will join the existing consultants and trainees in providing a full and comprehensive Oncology service across Leicestershire, Rutland and Northamptonshire.

The Oncology Department offers a comprehensive service to patients including chemotherapy, targeted agents, complex IMRT and stereotactic treatments. The treatment of all cancers is becoming increasingly complex with an increase in the options of radiotherapy and systemic therapies available.

This post does not have educational approval but if appropriate, you would be supported to develop your CV towards applying for an oncology training number. It would also suit those who would like some additional experience in Oncology, working in a supportive department.

Candidates require a minimum of 12 months NHS experience. Candidates will preferably possess MRCP (UK) or equivalent. Applicants without MRCP must provide evidence of appropriate knowledge, training and experience, including two years as an SHO with at least 18 months experience in Acute Medicine including 6 months unselected take. Prior experience in Oncology is desirable but not a prerequisite.

About us

Our new strategy, 'Leading in healthcare, trusted in communities' was developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners and is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).

We have four primary goals:

  • high-quality care for all,
  • being a great place to work,
  • partnerships for impact, and
  • research and education excellence

And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.

Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:

  • we are compassionate,
  • we are proud,
  • we are inclusive, and
  • we are one team

This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
