Burns & Plastics Staff Nurse

Job summary

Thank you for your interest in this exciting opportunity for a band 5 Burns and Plastics nurse. We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and experienced individual to join our already established team of nurses, specialist nurses and advance practitioners.

The post holder will have a passion for wound care and work within our nurse led Burns and Plastics treatment centre, caring for post op plastic surgery patients including skin cancers, hand trauma, breast reconstruction and lower leg complex care, as well as providing care to our burn injury patients across Leicestershire, Rutland and Northamptonshire. In addition to this, participation in managing our video led 'virtual' clinics will be required.

We run a busy outpatients clinic Monday-Friday and would like the post holder to have previous experience working as a band 5 within a clinical setting, leadership and autonomous working experience would also be beneficial though not essential.

Main duties of the job

  • Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of evidenced-based nursing care to a group of patients.
  • Responsible for the patients within the Burns and Plastics Treatment Centre (BPTC). Involving wound assessment, treatment planning using evidence based practice and evaluating outcomes
  • Assisting and contributing in the management and organisation of burns and Plastics Treatment Centre (BPTC)
  • Actively contribute to setting and maintaining high standards of quality nursing care.
  • Actively participate in the education, development and supervision of other staff members.
  • Act as a clinical and professional role model, assessing and supporting students and learners on placement within the clinical area.
  • Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families.
