Job summary

Medicines Management Technician - Neonatal Service

Would you like to join a growing and forward thinking pharmacy team? Do you want to apply and develop your skills to improve current and future patient care?

Thanks to a new investment in the service, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, hardworking Medicines Management Pharmacy Technician to join the women's and children's team, working within our neonatal service.

We are seeking highly motivated individuals with a passion for patient-centred care who will work closely with members of the wider multidisciplinary team to improve patient flow, manage stock, carry out audits, ensure good medicines management and carry out expenditure reporting.

The successful applicant will need to be committed to self and service development, have excellent practice with meticulous attention to detail and be a dedicated team member.

If you would like to join our team of Medicines Management Technicians, Assistants and Pharmacists, we would love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

The posts will provide a ward based medicines management service across our neonatal units which cover both the Leicester Royal Infirmary and The Leicester General Hospital. You will be contributing to the safe, effective discharge of patients and the completion of audits. You will be pivotal in ensuring our patients get the right medicines at the right time by working with the wider multidisciplinary team and pharmacy service though effective communication and detailed handover.

You will need to be self-motivated and organised and will be required to contribute to the process of service development and innovation. The post holder will be given a high degree of autonomy and must be able to work effectively alone and as part of a team.

As an advocate for pharmacy services and a guardian of medicines safety, applicants must be excellent communicators with good interpersonal and relationship building skills. You will also help in the training and development of our apprentices, assistants, pre-registration pharmacists and technicians and will be expected to undertake line management duties.

This role will be based at the Leicester Royal Infirmary; however, the successful candidate will be required to work at other sites.

The post holder will be expected to contribute to core pharmacy services including late, weekend, bank holiday and on-call cover on a rota basis. We'd also expect the post holder to be able to support MMT services across the directorate.

About us

Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).

We have four primary goals:

  • high-quality care for all,
  • being a great place to work,
  • partnerships for impact, and
  • research and education excellence

And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.

Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:

  • we are compassionate,
  • we are proud,
  • we are inclusive, and
  • we are one team

This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
