Job summary

An opportunity has arisen to join the team on our Children's & TYA Hematology & Oncology Ward at Leicester Royal Infirmary (Ward 27, LRI). We need an experienced, highly motivated and dedicated individual who can work with our team to deliver high quality education & patient care.

The role of the Clinical Skills Facilitator is pivotal in providing leadership, education and support to our nurses, whilst ensuring that the team are up to date with all necessary training & competencies. A successful applicant will be offered the opportunity to gain skills in leadership, management and quality improvement. You will also have the opportunity to work closely with the base wards & the wider multi disciplinary team within UHL.

Ward 27 is a fast paced 12 bedded Haematology & Oncology ward which cares for children & young adults up to 24 years of age.

You will be responsible for the development and implementation of training and skills programs within Ward 27.You will contribute to the development and implementation ofspecific procedures and policies to support clinical educationand practice, clinical working, staff development, quality andsafety, patient experience and quality standards.

Main duties of the job

Working in conjunction with the Ward Sister and PracticeEducation Team, support the development and education ofward staff by identifying and implementing appropriateclinical skills and development opportunities.Work clinically alongside registered and non-registered staffpromoting and delivering clinical skills training practiceensuring that skills adhere to UHL Policies and procedures.You will be expected to work one clinical shift a week,fulfilling the responsibilities of a band 6 nurse while on duty.Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of clinical skillstraining and practice development within the Ward.

  • Assist with the planning, delivery, co ordination of clinical skills training for nursing staff within Ward 12 in line with Trust Policy.
  • To continually review performance against KPI's, proactivelyaddressing areas of concern.

  • Work with the CH Education and Practice Development Lead todevelop the Wards individual training programmes.
