Job summary
This role is for a Band 3 Physiotherapy senior support worker 0.75 WTE (28 hours per week) based at the Adult Musculoskeletal (MSK) Physiotherapy Department at the Leicester Royal Infirmary.
This clinical area focuses on treating adult (age 16+) patients with MSK problems. The department offers 1:1 patient care, and a variety of group rehab classes.
The role also includes weekend and bank holiday working in either the Elective Orthopaedic wards at the Leicester General Hospital or the Trauma Orthopaedic wards at the Leicester Royal Infirmary. Weekend shifts will be granted a rostered day back during the week.
The post holder will need to be motivated, organised and able to work on their own initiative and as part of a team. They will need to have experience of working with a variety of different people.
The post holder will be expected to play an integral part to our rehab classes. They will also, when competent, be expected to hold their own caseload of patients by completing assessments and devising treatment plans for Physiotherapy interventions.
The post holder will also be a key member of our team by supporting our team and service with a number of non-clinical responsibilities.

Main duties of the job

Clinical:
Leading and/or assisting in rehab classes alongside a qualified Physiotherapist. Classes including (but not limited to) ankle, early/mid/advanced lower limb, early/mid/late shoulder, back, external fixation, and Achilles rupture classes.
1:1 patients. This will be based on competence assessment. Initially starting with patients highlighted to the post holder by a qualified physiotherapist to see the patient for 1:1 rehab. Once competent, the post holder can see patients on a 1:1 basis straight from referral.
Non Clinical:
Setting up, clearing down for rehab classes
Administrative tasks including (but not limited to) printing and sending discharge letters, maintaining resus trolley stock, and general tidying of department.
Personal Development:
The post holder will have an annual appraisal and1 hour monthly supervision with their line manager.The post holder will be entitled to 3 hours CPD per month, which is planned following discussions with line manager.
