Job summary

We are looking for a highly motivated, energetic individual, who thrives in a busy environment to join our Support Worker team on the Emergency Floor.

You will be apart of a team that provides safe and efficient patient transfer across the emergency floor to other areas of the hospital. It is vital you have a positive approach to helping both staff and patients, and want to provide the best journey possible through our hospitals.

Main duties of the job

Working as an Emergency Floor Support worker, you would be providing portering, administrative and domestic services, ensuring that patients are moved to the clinical areas in a timely manner. This role covers both Long Day and Night shifts over a seven day week, which includes bank holidays.

***This job is not a Healthcare Assistant role, but a non clinical support worker role***

KEY RESULT AREAS

  • Ensuring the timely transfer of patients from the Emergency Floor to the Assessment Units, the base wards or discharge lounge to expedite the patient flow across the hospital site.
  • Assisting with transportation of patients from the Emergency department.
  • Assisting with transportation of patients to and from the imaging department.
  • Delivering prescriptions and collecting medications from pharmacy
  • Help with the cleaning of patient areas in order that delays are not incurred with the transferring/admitting of patients
  • Assist non clinically on the ward in whatever capacity is necessary to ensure patient safety, comfort and dignity.
  • Supporting the work undertaken by the ED stores team when required.
  • To work as part of the Emergency Floor Team
  • A high standard of personal hygiene and presentation and demonstrate good hygiene practices.
