Trust Grade Registrar - Ears Nose and Throat
We have an exciting opportunity for Trust Grade Registrar Doctor's within the ENT Speciality. This posts is on a 12 month contract.
Ear, Nose and Throat surgery for the Leicester area is undertaken at the Leicester Royal Infirmary and the ENT Department will be expanding into the new EMPCC Hub based at the Leicester General Hospital. This expansion will help support our outpatients and inpatient day case capacity. This expansion is due open in December 2024 and some of the duties of this post would be undertaken at this hospital.
Main duties of the job
The appointment is for a whole time (resident)Trust Grade Specialty Registrar Doctor in ENT - ST3-6 equivalent, providing training in all aspects of ENT.This is a 6 month post designed to develop skills at a level of ST3-6 Speciality Registrar.
You will work as a member of the ENT Team to provide a high quality service that aims to deliver excellent patient care. You will work within the department alongside the Consultants, Associate specialist, Doctors in training and Advanced nursing colleagues to deliver elective and emergency services, consistent with the trusts strategy and values. A degree of independence in emergency assessment, decision making, and simple operating is expected. Over time, your position may evolve towards some independent practice.
Full support will be provided for CESR application for those who fulfil the criteria.
The Department serves the entire Leicestershire area with a number of sub-specialty interests being represented. There are also close links with the Leicester University Medical School.

To participate in the emergency ENT on call service.
Play a role in the clinical management of patients.
Participate in operating lists
Participate in clinical audit & demonstrate evidence based practice where appropriate.

Ensure discharge summaries are completed, in anticipation of expected discharge, for all admissions.
Contribute to service development in areas of special interest and expertise.
Actively participate in continuing medical education.

You will take part in a 1 in 7 on-call rota providing SpR level cover for the new Hub and supporting the emergency on call, supervising emergency cases, and ward patients, during the working day, and be expected to help with the training and supervision of new junior doctors (F2 ST2), as well as take part in Department meetings, research and audit.
