Job summary

This is an exceptional opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced clinical pharmacist to join our dynamic, innovative kidney pharmacy team in Leicester.

We are completely embedded within the renal department and currently leading integration of chronic kidney disease (iCKD) services in the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Integrated Care System (LLR ICS).

The post holder is expected to be a role model and contribute and lead on ongoing development of pharmacy services in renal and transplantation (depending on experience) as well as having an active role on relevant regional and national renal programmes.

We are looking for a motivated, organised individual, passionate about continuous improvement, with ability to be flexible and work effectively under pressure and bring value to the wider pharmacy and renal multi- professional team. In addition, they will have suitable experience required to deliver advanced clinical services (e.g. working as an independent prescriber, running clinics independently) and track record of project work.

Main duties of the job

The role includes working with senior renal clinicians, managers, commissioners across the healthcare system to improve CKD pathways in LLR, promoting integration, new ways of working, collaboration and efficiency for better outcomes for patients.

It will also involve providing direct patient care at an advanced clinical level in in-patient and out-patient settings and supporting the renal home care schemes for transplant immunosuppression, tolvaptan and ESAs.

The post holder will also assist the Consultant Pharmacist Renal and Transplant and Lead Pharmacist for RRCV to provide divisional support to the department, deputising when required. They will lead novel pharmacy projects in the care of patients in the designated clinical area, undertake research to inform practice underpinning delivery of an effective, evidence-based pharmacy service, and provide teaching and clinical supervision to a range of healthcare personnel, including pharmacy, medical, and nursing staff.

About us

Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).

We have four primary goals:

  • high-quality care for all,
  • being a great place to work,
  • partnerships for impact, and
  • research and education excellence

And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.

Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:

  • we are compassionate,
  • we are proud,
  • we are inclusive, and
  • we are one team

This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
