Job summary

We are looking for Registered Nurses/ ODP's to join our team as Band 6 Deputy Team Leader for Recovery/PACU at Glenfield Theatres.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new Band 6 deputy team leader within theatre recovery/ PACU at Glenfield theatre recovery. Glenfield recovery is a 12 bedded PACU working over 7 days providing 24 hour cover through, twilight's and on call shift's out of hours. The unit specialises in post anaesthetic care of patients undergoing a wide range of surgeries inclusive of thoracic, vascular, cardiology, breast, renal, hepatobiliary, ECT ,emergency and interventional radiology. A high percentage of patients that go through recovery require a higher level of post-operative care. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in high dependency immediate post anaesthetic care especially in thoracic surgery. Be a team player with an emphasis on high quality patient care, and is able to demonstrate and provide evidence of effective leadership qualities

We are looking for an experienced Recovery Nurse,Operating Department Practitioner at the GH, ready to take the next step in their continuing professional development. We are looking for an individuals who can demonstrate organisational skills such as time management, task prioritisation and development of others; through effective clinical, managerial/ leadership skills.

You will be required to undertake a range of shift patterns to ensure post-op care for all specialties is provided.

Main duties of the job

  • Visible clinical expertise, leading multi-disciplinary teams daily to provide direction, effective and inspirational leadership within the area of responsibility.

  • Assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence based care to patients.

  • Co-ordination and supervision of staff involved in all aspects of clinical duties

  • Deputise and manage the clinical area in absence of the Sister/Charge Nurse/Team Leader

  • Participate in the effective clinical leadership and management of the team.

  • Actively contribute to the improvement of services and quality of care provision to meet the needs of patients, service users and their families.

  • Act as a role model; mentoring, teaching, assessing and supporting students/learners on placement and participate in the education, development and mentorship of other staff.
