Applications are invited for the position of Clinical Research fellow at Leicester Fertility Centre and Department of Reproductive Medicine.
This unique post mixes clinical responsibilities and research opportunities, and is based in one of the most progressive Fertility Centre which provides both NHS and private fertility care. Clinical responsibilities principally comprise the management of patients undergoing fertility investigations and treatment. Specific training in all aspects of fertility management (i.e. ovarian stimulation, 2D/3D ultrasound, HyCoSy, oocyte recovery, embryo transfer, basic embryology,). The Centre provides a six day a week service and you will share these duties. As part of this post you would have the option to complete BFS/RCOG special skills training in ART and/or BFS pelvic ultrasound module.
The post is for 1 year. It is suited to individuals who have completed MRCOG and have an interest and wish to pursue a career in reproductive medicine. Evidence of a commitment to research is desirable.

Main duties of the job
The appointment will be held by a registered medical practitioner and is designed to give opportunities for further experience in Obstetrics & Gynaecology in the area of infertility.
The appointment will be made by University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust on the recommendation of an Appointments Committee.
The clinical research fellow appointed will be required to work in the dynamic team of Leicester Fertility Centre under the direction of the consultant flexibly as required. It will involve doing clinics and theatre work under supervision and to the competency level. The Unit provides a six day with a week service and you will share the workload at your level of training. There are no on-call commitments with the post.
The clinical research fellow will be encouraged to take part in undergraduate and postgraduate medical teaching. Dedicated time will be identified in the weekly rota for research/audit/quality improvement project. It is expected that the Clinical Fellow will present at various National/International meetings. Where possible, the postholder will be encouraged to register for a higher degree and will be supervised jointly by NHS and University colleagues for this.
This CRF post will enable the post holder to become prepared for further Subspeciality training.

The ethos of the Unit is to provide the highest care for patients and the postholder will be supervised to reach high standards of expertise. The post-holder will need to have good communication skills with patients, colleagues, nurses, embryologists and consultants in charge with regards to decision making.
