The postholder will be responsible for providing timely, efficient and effective operational management ensuring that the Portering service is responsive and provided to the highest possible standards that are service user focused. To identify changing demand on the services, developing and implementing, in conjunction with the Portering Manager, plans to meeting them and supporting the change management process.

Main duties of the job
- Display a high standard of personal hygiene and presentation and demonstrate good hygiene practices.
- Observe confidentiality of patients and employing trusts business at all times.
- Communicate and liaise effectively with Work Colleagues, Managers and with Clinical
- Teams accordance with Trust values.

- Having and maintaining good relationships and communication with Clinical Services working together to provide a high quality service.

Job responsibilities
- Day to day operational responsibility for ensuring that the range of Facilities functions including at ward level, Portering, Linen Services and Managing the Waste on-site, Post are delivered.
- To provided efficiently and cost effectively service, at the agreed quality and according to UHL requirements.
- Demonstrate clear leadership of the services and staff which motivates all staff to achieve high quality services and maintain good staff morale.
- To support the Portering Manager produce and implement appropriate training plan to ensure staff receive required job role and mandatory training, comply with hygiene and safety legislation and statutory requirements e.g., Health and Safety at Work Act, COSHH, Infection Prevention Control to maintain a clean and safe environment to protect themselves, colleagues, patients, staff and visitors.
- Monitor the effectiveness and quality of services provided by carrying out technical and managerial audits in designated disciplines.
- Submit accurate reports to the Portering Manager in a timely manner, including audit results for the National Specification for Cleanliness in the NHS, action plans resulting from Environmental Health and other audits.
- Ensuring all financial targets are met.
- To set up an effective communication, regular planned meetings with Team leaders/Staff for information sharing.
