As a Paediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) Education Fellow you will have the opportunity to work alongside experts in PEM and in medical education. Leicester Royal Infirmary is home of the East Midlands Emergency Medicine Educational Media (EM3) team, you would be working as part of their award winning MDT team to provide relevant training for staff both in house and website content. You will undertake clinical duties at middle grade level in one of the countries busiest Childrens' Emergency Departments and have the opportunity to undertake a funded medical education PgCert.
Also, as an Emergency Medical Education OOPE you will be responsible for setting up and the delivery of Regional and local teaching sessions. This will include liaising with the Medical Staffing Team when it comes to the Induction programme. Other teaching activities will include shop floor teaching dates and delivery of the programme, CBD clinics, Simulation sessions and Education meetings. As a centre of contact you will be working closely with other Emergency Department professionals, Consultant Leads, Education Team and Medical Staffing Team.
Main duties of the job
Clinically you will be expected to maintain a high standard of clinical care for children and their families attending the department. Working at middle grade level with direct consultant support on the clinical floor between the hours of 08.00 and 01.00 it would be anticipated you clerk patients in order of clinical priority, make and initiate management plans and support junior staff.
Support education for all grades of medical practitioners in the department, contribute to the development and delivery of the educational programmes and content.

Trainees are encouraged to attend educational conferences and training events and are funded or part funded where possible. Previous fellows have presented at national conferences and all have submitted posters at a national and regional level. It is hoped that educational publications will be generated. In 2019 the ED Education Team won the Trust's Education Team of the Year award.

- maintain professional standards and obligations as set out from time to time by the General Medical Council (GMC) and comply in particular with the GMCs guidance on Good Medical Practice as amended or substituted from time to time;
