To deliver an efficient and effective Accounts Receivable, service across the Trust in accordance with statutory requirements, accounting guidance and agreed local procedures.

To deputise for the Transaction Services Manager in relation to Accounts Receivable matters as required.
Main duties of the job
General Management:
- Ensure the effective and efficient operation of the Accounts Receivable, to ensure prompt and accurate income collection.
- To be responsible for the day-to-day management of staff within the Accounts Receivable, including recruitment, appraisal, performance management, coaching and training.
- Ensure appropriate financial records are maintained and developed in accordance with good accounting practice and in line with agreed local arrangements and service agreements.
- Prepare and maintain appropriate procedure notes and guidelines ensuring that appropriate KPIs are in place to measure the effectiveness of the departments and taking remedial action where required.
- The post holder will be expected to contribute to the efficient operation of the Finance Department.
- The post holder will support the development and review of financial systems to ensure the finance directorate provides a comprehensive and effective service to the Trust.

Accounts receivable:
- To manage the processes for the monthly collection of income to enable the Trust to meet its cash requirements.
- Responsible for ensuring that all income received into the Trust is posted into the ledger accurately and in a timely manner by month end.
- Ensure financial queries are resolved, including those with finance and wider Trust staff and customers relating to delays in invoices being raised and payments being received.
- Work with Clinical Management Groups to establish and maintain systems and procedures for the efficient and timely generation of invoices.
- Negotiate with NHS and non-NHS customers over outstanding debts and act as a point of escalation for the sections staff when they have difficult, complex or contentious issues with customers.
- Ensure that all NHS income is raised in accordance with NHS charging rules and monitor the monthly SLA income.
- Assist with the NHS year end and in year agreement of balances processes.
- Liaise with third party debt collection agencies and solicitors to maximise the recovery of debt, once all internal processes have been exhausted.
- Implement and maintain procedures for the write off of debts and produce monthly information on bad debt provisions.
