Job summary
This post encompasses the potential to train in colorectal and/or an oesophago-gastric (OG) surgery for a one - two year period. The default will be six months each of although there may well be flexibility to adjust this according to the applicants need. There may be opportunities to work at Leicester General Hospital on the Colorectal or Hepatopancreaticobiliary firms. In view of the rotations on offer, a job description of both posts is attached.
University Hospitals Leicester is the third largest acute trust in England and consists of three hospitals: Leicester Royal Infirmary (LRI), Leicester General Hospital (LGH) and Glenfield Hospital (GH). The Leicester Royal Infirmary is the largest of the three Hospitals and is based in the city centre. The LRI is a busy emergency centre with a large Accident and Emergency unit that sees in excess of 10,000 attendances a year. Approximately 300 emergency laparotomies are undertaken at the LRI per year with close consultant supervision.

About us
All consultants have undergone (or taught) Training and Assessment in the Clinical Environment and are experienced supervisors, 2 of which are also training programme directors for core and higher surgical training within Health Education East Midlands. All consultants will provide clinical supervision and a named educational supervisor will also be provided. On the firm there are four registrars (specialty trainees), two core trainees and four foundation year 1 trainees. The fellow would work at the same level and in harmony with the current registrars. There are three clinical nurse specialists ( 2 cancer, 1 bariatric).
