Job summary
We are looking for dynamic, motivated and experienced individuals who are seeking an opportunity to be a join our Intensive Care Team in the role of Senior Sister/Charge Nurse. There will be potential for a Secondment position in addition to a permanent position.
Each post holder will work alongside the ICU Matron and a team of Senior Sisters providing direction and inspirational leadership to the nursing and multi-disciplinary team within ICU.
The Glenfield Hospital ICU provides care to patients following Cardiac, Hepatobiliary, Renal, Thoracic and Vascular surgery as well as, General and Breast Surgery. Glenfield's large medical, nursing and support team also deliver treatment to those patients with medical and respiratory issues including those patients requiring ECMO.
Main duties of the job

The post holder will be accountable and responsible for ICU being visible, accessible and responsive to the needs and experiences of service users, patients, carers and the public. The post holder will be required to be an expert clinical practitioner, able to work shifts and an enthusiastic and integral member of our developing and committed team.

The provision, supervision and delivery of excellent quality care is essential for this role, as well as a requirement to provide a supportive learning environment for continuing education.

Additional commitments include; reporting to the Matron and supporting the wider organization; reduction of risk and audit; managing resources and information; and coordinating elective and emergency activity whilst upholding Trust values within the Intensive Care Service at UHL.

Undertake expanded clinical responsibilities that utilize advanced knowledge and skills, and work autonomously with the scope of Professional Practise in the Critical Care Unit, following education and / or update of skills, in relation to extended clinical tasks / roles required for this post.
