BAND 6 Occupational Therapists - Medicine Team

Permanent Position - flexible working patterns considered

Are you a band 5 Occupational Therapist or an existing band 6 Occupational Therapist who is looking to develop your leadership skills and want experience in service development? These are exciting times for the Medicine team at UHL. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and dynamic Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our established team of therapists who provide a service to our medical wards based at Leicester Royal Infirmary and Leicester General hospital. We have the support of the Trust to improve and develop our service, looking at reducing deconditioning and ensuring it continues to meet the needs of the population.

You will be part of the wider multidisciplinary team working on the acute medical wards assessing and treating patients with a variety of clinical conditions, including frailty, endocrinology, gastroenterology, oncology and general medical conditions.

You will assess and treat patients referred to the service, with an aim to facilitate discharge from the acute setting as efficiently and effectively as possible. You will ensure excellent communication with patients, their relatives and carers.

Main duties of the job

You will have support to develop both your clinical and leadership skills from our Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist and Clinical Team Leader.

We have a supportive team of Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists. You will receive regular supervision and appraisal to promote personal development. You will be actively encouraged to be involved in service development, audit and research.

There will be the opportunity to support and supervise other staff, as well as provide practice placements for Occupational Therapy students. There is a structured in-service training programme in place within the team which you will be encouraged to be involved with.

We provide a seven day service and have a roster system to cover weekend working and bank holidays.

For additional information please contact Caroline Farthing - Clinical Team Leader 0116 2585053.
