An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and dedicated nurse, with an interest and experience in coronary care, to join our friendly and supportive team at Coronary Care Unit (CCU).

As a member of the Coronary Care Unit team you will work closely with cardiology medical team, Cardiac Angiocatheter Suite and the Clinical Decisions Unit.

Glenfield Hospital is a well-recognised world renowned cardiology centre of excellence The Coronary Care Unit is a 19-bedded monitored area that provides level 2 care for acutely ill patients requiring inotropic support, intra-aortic balloon pumps, non-invasive ventilation, CPAP, temporary pacing, continuous cardiac monitoring using bedside monitors and telemetries Admissions to the Coronary Care Unit at Glenfield include direct admission STEMIs, out of hospital Cardiac Arrests, Complete Heart Block, ITU Cardiology step down patients as well as post TAVI procedure patients requiring close post procedural monitoring.

Main duties of the job

The CCU is a fast-paced unit caring for acutely ill level 2 patients. We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals who will uphold the UHL values. On a day-to-day basis, you will be providing a high standard of nursing care to the cardiac patients. You will be working closely with Cardiac Catheter Unit, the Cardiology Wards and EMAS and the Emergency Department to support a smooth PCI pathway for the patient. You will be working collaboratively with the management, clinical nurse specialists and the wider multidisciplinary team to enhance the patient care through various quality improvement initiatives.

As a nurse in charge and team leader you will take direct managerial responsibility for the clinical area in the absence of the Ward Manager. You will also assist in the leadership and development of an identified group of nurses within the ward complement and also act as a positive role model to junior staff members to support them in advancing their practice.

Applicants for this role will have 3 years post registration experience, with at least 2 years of experience and leadership experience in an acute admissions unit, acute cardiac care environment, CCU or ITU environment
