Job summary
The Deputy Chief Nursing Informatics Officer (DCNIO) is a key member of the senior leadership team. As a highly experienced and credible senior nurse, you will be able to provide expert clinical advice and guidance to support developments in the field of informatics and technology. You will play a pivotal role in supporting the Chief Nursing Informatics Officer (CNIO) in the development and implementation of the 8 principles for a digitally enabled NMAHP workforce:
- Use technology to support Nurses and Midwives vital role in joining up care
- Empower the frontline: adopt the principles of the CNO's collective leadership programme
- Professionalisation of Nursing and Midwifery informatics
- Reduce the documentation burden on Nurses and Midwives
- Release time to care - tech for task, extend humanity
- Improve safety and reduce avoidable harm
- Strengthen evidence base for Nursing and Midwifery using big data to target care and support decision making about Nursing and Midwifery interventions
- Empowering people to actively participate and contribute to their care

Main duties of the job
The DCNIO will work in partnership with the CNIO as a translator and a main point of liaison for nursing, midwifery and allied health professionals (NMAHP) informatics, sharing the strategic vision for how technology will enhance NMAHP practices, clinical quality and patient safety.
As a transformational leader with exemplary clinical credibility, the DCNIO will provide expert clinical advice and guidance to support the Trust's developments in the field of informatics and technology; working collaboratively with the CNIO and Trust's Chief Clinical Information Officer (CCIO) and digital clinical leads, Chief Information Officer and Chief Nurse engaging with key stakeholders to ensure patient and clinical involvement in the planning, development, delivery and evaluation of systems and services.
