Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a team leader to shape our new Robotic Theatre at Leicester Royal Infirmary covering General Surgery and ENT. This will give a new or experienced Team leader the chance to build the service and to develop our new team.

This role can be offered as Substantive and Secondment/Fixed term position.

As part of the extended theatre leadership team you will take part in the floor control rota and deputise for the Matron when required.

LRI theatres is an exciting and forward thinking department lead by senior nurses and ODP's. The successful candidate will need to be dynamic, hardworking, enthusiastic, with a willingness to lead from the front. You will be responsible for setting the standards and supporting your team to deliver these, share the Trust's values and ambitions, the patient's safety and experience being paramount.

You will also need to be flexible, fair, and adaptable to the changing needs of the service. In return we will provide close supervision, training and development opportunities and everyday challenges.

A minimum of 2 years' experience at Band 6 level (or equivalent), including leadership and management skills, and be able to establish credible working relationships quickly. Excellent organisational skills are essential.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for setting the standards and supporting your team to deliver these, sharing the Trust's values and ambitions, with the patient's safety and experience at the forefront of what you do.

You will also undertake the role of floor control, coordinating theatre activity to cover 24/7 service delivery and providing a direct line of contact for wider site and Trust wide actions

  • Provide direction, effective and inspirational leadership to all members of the multi disciplinary team within the area for which they are accountable.

  • Act as an expert clinical practitioner providing through themselves and their Robt team an excellent quality of care to patients and service users.

  • Act as a clinical and managerial role model within the Robot team, CMG and across the wider organisation/Division.

  • Take responsibility for the provision of a supportive learning environment for all students on placement and newly appointed staff within the Robot team for which they are responsible
