Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Radiology Department Assistant to be based at either the Leicester General Hospital, Glenfield Hospital and Leicester Royal Infirmary Radiology Department, however cross-site working is essential. You may be rostered to all areas of the department including ultrasound sessions, x-ray and screening, alongside supporting MRI & CT sessions. You will also be expected to support with administration for the Imaging department including covering for reception and booking of inpatients for the examinations using the Radiology computer systems.
Main duties of the job
Clinical duties include patient care and welfare, assisting and chaperoning patients prior to, during and after the examination including being able to give the patient a basic explanation of procedures and ensuring a safe discharge of the patient from the department and cleaning and preparing the room prior to and post procedure and managing patient flow through the department. In addition helping to maintain imaging equipment and patient records therefore you must ensure accuracy of patient and examination details. You will also liaise with other departments and wards to guarantee effective communication. You must also ensure that mandatory training is up to date and remain updated with any new developments and policies.
The core working hours will be 07:30 to 20:00 with rostered weekend and bank holiday working but there may be some requirement to cover late/evening shifts.
