Macmillan Gynae-Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist Band 6
A new , exciting opportunity has arisen for the position of a Band 6 Macmillan Gynae-Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist to work as a member of our team.
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse with specialist knowledge and skills in the management of patients with gynaecological cancers to join our team.
You will be supported by highly experienced Clinical Nurse Specialists in the care and management of these patients. You will be supporting patients and their families through their treatment pathway including oncological treatments. This will include active participation in MDT meetings, multidisciplinary outpatient clinics, inpatient reviews, nurse led clinics including holistic needs assessments and care planning.
You will need to have excellent communication and organisational skills and the ability to foster good working relationships, offering care in a kind and compassionate manner.
You would be supported both clinically and in personal education needs.
Applicants should have an understanding of the Clinical Nurse Specialist role and be willing to undertake further training and development as required. The position involves cross site working.
Main duties of the job
The purpose of the post is to provide expert specialist clinical nursing practice for both outpatients, inpatients (including NHS and private patients where relevant). The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) will use evidence-based clinical practice in line with current research, guidelines and other available evidence. They will ensure that patients and their families are fully informed about their journey through the service from diagnostic investigations, surgery and oncological care. The CNS will liaise with other members of the Multi-disciplinary Team when required, to ensure delivery of reliable high quality care.
The CNS will be a core member of the department and will be responsible for ensuring a coordinated and comprehensive range of services are provided for all patients receiving active treatments for Gynaecological malignant and complex benign conditions that are referred to UHL.
The post holder will plan and deliver care in accordance with UHL Trust Values.
Act as a positive role model through the provision of effective professional leadership for relevant clinical areas and demonstration of competent and accountable clinical practice.
Act as an adviser/educator and role model to less experienced doctors, nurses and therapists (MDT) to ensure appropriate care is planned, implemented and evaluated.
